It is with great pleasure that Victory Hill Capital Group LLP (“Victory Hill”) announces the addition of Richard Lum and Eduardo Monteiro amongst its senior ranks.
Both Richard and Eduardo will play an integral role to the establishment of Victory Hill as an investment firm. They will both become Managing Partners of Victory Hill Capital Group LLP and will both hold the titles of Co-Chief Investment Officers.
Richard Lum comes with a very broad and extensive background in energy. He is a seasoned project finance banker, with a background in project financing, project advisory, transaction structuring and principal investing through both equity and debt, across multiple parts of the energy value chain. Over his 26-year career, he has financed projects across more-developed and less-developed energy markets around the world, in both conventional and renewable energy sectors. Richard has worked for prominent asset and project finance firms including West LB, Bayern LB and Standard Chartered Bank, for which he has worked in South East Asia as well as in Europe. More recently, after spending a few years as a senior member of Mizuho’s European Structured Finance Department, where he was involved in the financing of a number of landmark energy projects, he became Head of Energy Origination, responsible for global relationships with some of the largest energy companies. Richard is also a founding principal of Mizuho’s Energy Special Situations Group, which was constituted to engage with middle-market energy developers that were supported by large energy clients of Mizuho Bank.
Eduardo Monteiro is a seasoned M&A banker in the field of energy and natural resources. He has been involved in some of the world’s largest and most visible energy IPOs and transactions. Eduardo’s background in capital markets extends to debt advisory, debt and equity capital markets as well as corporate strategic advice and capital structuring. He has worked across the EMEA region, Asia and Latin America, advising large utility, conventional energy, mining and renewable power companies. Eduardo has worked for market-leading global energy M&A teams at ABN Amro Bank and JP Morgan in both Europe and Brazil. He was also one of the first hires in Société Générale’s Energy & Natural Resources M&A business build-out before joining Mizuho Bank in London to help build its own Natural Resources Corporate Finance Advisory practice in EMEA. While at Mizuho Eduardo has worked on and led several large prominent and very visible transactions including the world’s largest energy IPO to date. Eduardo is also a founding principal of Mizuho’s Energy Special Situations Group. In his capacity as Co-Chief Investment Officer at Victory Hill, Richard will continue to lead the design of the sustainability-oriented investment philosophy and strategy for the firm’s Global Sustainable Energy Opportunities (“GSEO”) investment strategy. Richard is also responsible for global origination and investment activities for the firm and is supported in his market outreach by Eduardo Monteiro and David Short, who is currently Head of Renewable Energy at Victory Hill. In his capacity as CoChief Investment Officer at Victory Hill, Eduardo will continue to lead the build-out of the investment team structure as well as design and implement the investment, due diligence, structuring and execution strategy of the firm’s GSEO investment strategy.
